Scribbles

Too busy at work. Just about enough time for a scribble in graphite, marker and whiteout...that's it. :(

Illustration Friday: Song

Got this one in just under the wire. :) Inspired by the fabulous Susan Hayward in "With a Song in My Heart." I've had the title song going through my head all week; maybe now it will finally go away and give me a bit of peace.

A friend sent me a link to her family photos web site and I was so charmed by this little guy I wanted to draw him. I don't think I've ever done a baby portrait before. It was challenging since, for this kind of drawing, it felt like I needed to keep a very gentle touch with the pencil, something I'm not used to doing.

I almost never use my brush pens for anything more than fooling around. Way too scary. But I picked one up the other day and made myself scribble something before throwing a piece of board away. I liked it enough to save it, even though the hands are somewhat flipper-like. :) Added some color in Photoshop and restrained myself from doing too much clean-up.

The *simple* act of blowing on a dandelion head. I had to work to keep from overworking this. :) It can be a challenge to "keep it simple." For IllustrationFriday.

Playing around with a pencil sketch done from one of the photos downloaded from Female Anatomy for the Artist (they've got a huge selection of poses; I love this site which is why I actually coughed up the $$ to gain access to everything there.) Started this in Painter and cleaned up a bit in Photoshop.

She's a snotty young thing...

Hoping to get this sketch inked soon...I'd like to think I won't muck it up by doing so; I like the charm of the pencil drawing and I need to somehow retain that. Fingers crossed.
