Illustration Friday: Monster

Had this great idea that fell flat on its face, after hours of labor. Grrrr. All that's left is this pencil portrait of Elsa Lanchester as the Bride of Frankenstein...which I was persuaded to post despite the fact that I'm sorely disappointed in the way that whole thing went.

To get the bad taste out of my mouth I did another depiction of the monstrous Bride in a pinup pose. :)

Latte Art

I've got to try this sometime. Just goes to show that creative people will use whatever's handy!

New art coming in the next few days, if all goes as planned.

Illustration Friday: Feet

This started out as a pencil sketch, then traced over with marker, then scanned into Photoshop and fooled around with until I just ran out of time and decided to stop, already. I wanted to try something a bit different, something suggesting a cut-paper/press-on halftone-pattern kind of thing.

Nude in pencil with color

Not as busy with work this week, so I'm hoping to be posting more.

Illustration Friday: Tattoo

I stole some time away from a looming deadline to put this together fast--I missed the last IF and didn't want to miss this one too. Wasn't sure if I liked the tattoos best in color, or in black. I do love the *punch* of straight black and white art. But I did do a color version, which can be seen here.

This was done in FreeHand, the poor vector program that has been gobbled up by Adobe but which I will always love.

Just another nude...

The screaming orange color is supposed to wake me up today. Zzzzzz...it's not working...

Teabag folding

While googling 'tea' for ideas for Illustration Friday I found links for teabag folding, which I'd never heard of. Small squares of decorative paper are folded and then used to construct various medallion-type designs. I love origami, so this was something I wanted to try...and this was what I ended up with. The original 'teabag paper' square design is below the folded piece.

Tea with the Dragon Lady :)

Well, this one didn't turn out quite the way I'd planned but—it's time to stop fiddling with it and move on! Done for Illustration Friday.
Really Old Stuff

Going through old portfolios from art school is a real trip. I hauled several down from the attic to start sorting everything because we're moving later this year; and omigod--it was both painful and delightful. Most of that stuff I forgot I ever did. This piece was a pleasant surprise...I liked it a lot, considering how OLD it is (and don't ask me how old...haha...)
