Trinquette Challenge * Vampirella
Just managed to do something for this weekly thing before the deadline. These challenges intimidate the hell out of me...each one features more incredible art by amazing artists than the last one. It's all I can do to pencil in something decent.
But, I made myself take the leap this time. JUST DO IT.

Bettie Page Bond Girl
My entry for Trinquétte Publishing's Drawing Challenge on Facebook.
I think Bettie Page would have made an interesting "Bond girl."

Illustration Friday: Hidden
Another collaboration with Jacqueline Garno and one of her altered papers. I made several changes and added hand-drawn elements.
Somewhat inspired by a quote from Brian Eno: Honor thy error as a hidden intention.

Maia
Trying out some new, extra-soft, extra black pencils — General's Kimberly Premium Graphite Drawing Pencil 9XXB. Nice and black, but still not as soft as I was hoping for!
Pencil (obviously) plus digital color. Click to make it bigger, okay?

Collaboration — Web of Mind
My friend Jacqueline Garno and I collaborated on this limited edition giclée print. She provided the altered paper original from her collection of wonderful papers, and I did some digital manipulations and additions.

Cardboard portrait
I saved the pristine cardboard liner from a box of cat food and grabbed a
few Prismacolor pencils and scribbled a portrait of the lovely Jessica, using her photo stock.

Art of Belly Dance
After a lot of time off, I managed to put something together for the Art of Belly Dance event coming up in Detroit in June. Inspired by Inga Petermann's performance at Tribal Prague 2012.
Pencil, watercolor, ink, marker, digital, sparkly stuff, etc.

Emma Frost to send the old year out
This is a commission that took me too many months to complete (sorry, Tim!)
Last post for a year that didn't see a lot of art-action by yours truly.
I'm gonna raise a large gin and tonic tonight to a more art-ful 2013.
A very Happy New Year to the handful of folks who still stop by this blog. :)

Dr. Sketchy's Grand Rapids ~ Lula Loops
After hours of laboring over my sketchbook, back in my dark and steamy corner of the Sazerac Lounge last night, I relaxed and scribbled a little portrait of petite and lovely Lula Loops with more energy and freshness in it than all my other drawings combined.
So I scanned it and added some color.

Jade: study
A pencil portrait I did of one of my favorite deviantArt stock photo providers, Jade Macalla, from one of his excellent photos.
I always meant to finish this by drawing the rest of the pose but now I like the incomplete quality of the drawing so—I'm calling it done.

Cardinal
My too-late entry for Faestock's Creative Challenge #11
I took Jessica up on her suggestion to try a different medium. The line work was done in the ink-resist technique, which yields unexpected results and pretty much obliterates the details of the original drawing. Watercolor was added and some Photoshop fiddling was done as well.

Illustration Friday: Jump
I don't think I've drawn a horse since I was around 12 (when I was crazy about 'em.)
Drawing in pencil; colors added in Photoshop.
He looks a bit more like he's flying than jumping, probably.
Reference via a lovely stock photo by deviantArt's slime-stock.
