Illustration Friday: Robot

For a change, I wanted to do something totally analog—no Photoshop, no digital manipulation. So I got out pen, ink and brush and had a go. Wow, I was definitely missing the 'undo' command. :)

I decided to scan it after I'd inked it...just in case I dumped watercolor all over the thing. So, I ended up doing a digital version after all:

After looking at the two of them together, I think I like the digital version better. Hmmm.

Both of these are wonderful. I like your approach to doing a non-digital piece first. In the end it was nice to see a digital version, too. Boy, don't you wish that "undo" button worked in every day life?

I really like your robot. Especially all the wires in her arms and waist. Your other work is pretty amazing as well.

Both versions are charming. You've created a very sweet robot - I do like the way she's gently beholding the little bird:> Both illustrations are effective, each with its own strength. The top one is warmer with its white background and color; the bottom one has a crisper more "prodeuced" look. Good job!

The braided cables look really cool- and it is great that you did two versions of this, both of them work for different reasons. Always great to see your work- keep em coming!!!

They are both really good. Your head/studies are great as well. I have thought about making a t-shirt that just has the "splat"(Apple command key)-z on the front. Great work!

I really enjoyed everything you have posted here. Your figure studies are beautiful! I like your analog robot. Photoshop gets a lot of use and it can really make things slick but I like to see the evidence of a human hand. Great!

This is really sweet! The wires in the belly remind me of 3CPO, who when I first saw Star Wars on our old t.v. I thought I was seeing the actor's flannel shirt.
